PERMISSIONS | THE VILLAGE

ALEC HARDISON

canon: Leverage
canon point: Post-finale (S05 E15, 'The Long Goodbye Job')
canon cw: alcoholism, other addictive behaviors, gaslighting/manipulation, violence, death, blood, implied child abuse, claustrophobia, for the canon as a whole.

brief bio: Hardison is a criminal hacker turned... the still-criminal hacker official for Team Leverage! A cool crew of ex-thieves and the like using their skills at crimes and cons, but For The People. He's a very smart man with a lot of traditionally geeky interests, pop culture and otherwise, and oftentimes creativity and ambition to spare. Art. Music mixes. Maintaining aliases for his weird found family. Owning and managing a brewpub that Eliot is frankly saving by cooking for. Building safe-cracking robot friends for his girl. Truly a renaissance man. He's got a big heart, lots of sympathy for others and emotional IQ, hates "the outdoors," and leans too hard on orange soda + gummi frogs as dietary staples.
relationship status: Taken and pot-committed! He has two hands. They are both in use while he and Parker and Eliot Leverage into the sunset.

apparent age: Mid-20s
appearance: Portrayed by Aldis Hodge! He's 6'1", Black, very on the lanky side with a tendency to slouch a little (bad computer habits), broad shouldered. Pretty well-built, perhaps surprisingly so!
identifying marks; Nah, he got off lucky there.

mental state: Coming into the game, generally at the peak of stability and fulfillment. He's got Parker, he's got Eliot, Nate and Sophie are in good form, and they're all set up to start destroying the lives of rich people who ruined the world economy. Genuinely was doing great.

ABILITIES

The number one thing that Hardison utilizes and relies on is his intelligence. He's a hacker and technological genius who's been busting his way into government databases since his tween years. He's built safe-hacking robots, hacked into secure accounts every which way, set up tech feats that would probably be impossible in actual reality for cons, the whole kit and caboodle.

Hardison is also the de facto team forger for fake badges, passports, IDs, etc., sometimes on the fly after someone decides to ad-lib to a mark about their backstory. A lot of the digital and some of the practical groundwork that has to be laid for a con to take off is his handiwork. He's the one who routinely goes through and virtually scrubs remaining evidence of the team's presence after a job is finished, too, wherever possible.

He's a fast learner who gets tapped pretty regularly for a little bit of polymath jack-of-all-trades-ing through the course of the series, too. Sometimes you simply have to learn to forge a diary from the 1800s convincing enough to fool a dude who can recognize an artifact's place of origin by smell, and you have to get it done in a handful of days. This is simply a hazard of the job.

Hardison also has some skill and experience when it comes to more traditional conning and grifting. He's done a decent job of infiltrating businesses and workplaces without getting caught out, or bluffing his way through a security check or two. He tends not to get put onto the griftwork very often, though, because he has a tendency to go overboard with his personas in a way that gets him into trouble.

He, uh. Theoretically knows how to use a firearm, but historically has terrible aim and not very good safety practices with them when he's given one to use. And he knows some basics when it comes to hand-to-hand fighting, particularly in the self-defense area, but I wouldn't say he knows or has enough skill to genuinely be called a fighter by any stretch.

IC PERMISSIONS

physical affection: Totally fine! Hardison's a tactile person.
flirting: Not against it, but as he's taken, he's not likely to be throwing any game back.
relationships: N/A
sex: N/A
fighting: I'm down for it! I prefer to hash out general events/outcomes/injuries beforehand just to keep things expedient. Hardison is Not Good At Fighting.
injury/death: Ask first on both. I'm generally okay with injuries at default, it's just good to know in advance.
psychic information: Well, he canonically made a great mark for out-and-out hypnosis and it worked, so I wouldn't say his defenses are great. He'd be pretty miffed about having them used on him if we're talking control/manipulation, bc he's very not into mind games thank u. For just communication, idk he'd probably think it's cool.
triggers: Uhh, honestly, nothing I can think of outright for him.

OOC PERMISSIONS

time zone: EST, but I work third shift so tbh it's all in the wind.
rp style: I prefer brackets for the most part! Can do prose if someone really prefers it that way though! My speed tends to vary a lot? My work/sleep schedules have a way of being dumb aka making me bad at doing RP outside of my weekends. I'm always always up to prioritize time-sensitive or big-CR-importance threads!! Frankly if I'm ever too slow for your speed, you can always tell me and I'll do my best to pick it up or handwave, no hard feelings.
